Florida Man Threatens To “Shoot Up & Burn Down” Subway When Told He Needed To Pay With Cash

A Florida man has been arrested after losing it in a Subway restaurant when he was told he would have to pay with cash for his footlong sandwich.

On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, Deputy Rashard Fleming with the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Subway restaurant on US 129 North regarding a man inside of the store who was yelling at employees so loudly that an employee of an adjacent business also called 911 to report it.

Once Deputy Fleming arrived at the store and spoke to the employees, he learned that the Florida Man, 52 years old, from Live Oak, FL, had become enraged when he was informed that the store could not accept debit cards, only cash.

FM threatened to shoot up the place and burn it to the ground while yelling profanities at the employees. He then retrieved a knife from his pocket and waved it toward the employees, threatening to kill them.

Deputy Fleming located FM outside a different business at the US 129 and I-10 interchange, yelling and screaming obscenities.

Deputy Fleming repeatedly told Steven to calm down, but he refused and continued to yell profanities at him.

The Florida Man was arrested and transported to the Suwannee County Jail, where he has been charged with:

•Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
•Disorderly Intoxication
