Florida Man Arrested During Traffic Stop With Enough Fentanyl To Kill 10,000 People

A Florida man, who is a convicted felon, is in jail, and his drugs are off the streets after a routine traffic stop for blowing a stop sign.

The Florida man, 39, of Naples, was arrested Wednesday with enough fentanyl to kill nearly 10,000 people.

At approximately 7:48 p.m., FM was driving when CCSO deputies conducted a traffic stop near Shadowlawn Drive and Tamiami Trail East for running a stop sign.

Deputies discovered 19.1 grams of fentanyl in the car, which according to U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration estimates has the potential to kill 9,550 people.

Deputies found 10 separate containers holding substances proven or suspected to be illicit narcotics.

FM’s vehicle also contained scales, plastic baggies, and a container disguised as a “New English Dictionary” that concealed a baggie with an unknown blue substance.

“This is a great example of the never-ending efforts of our deputies to keep our streets safe from drugs and crime,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said. “We are protecting the lives of our citizens by keeping this poison out of our community.”

The Florida man is charged with five felonies for possession of a controlled substance, including trafficking in fentanyl of four grams or more.
